Both of the videos by Maroon 5 for This Love and She Will Be Loved contained very steamy and extended sex scenes. Both of them starred Levine and his escapades with Kelly McKee and Kelly Preston. The first steamy MV, This Love, used creative camera angles to avoid exposing the private parts. For more conservative markets, another version of the video was produced, this time where a stream of computer generated flower petals covered up the more than steamy scenes.

Another video, Wake Up Call, also contained explicit materials and was also presented as a trailer for a fictional NC-17 movie.
